MOSUL, Iraq - Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), under the operational control of Task Force Olympia, recovered several caches of weapons in northern Iraq Wednesday.
Members of the Coalition for Iraqi Unity, a concerned group of citizens in northwestern Iraq, approached members of the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment in Sinjar and turned in five rocket-propelled-grenade rockets, 62 RPG boosters, four RPG launchers, 13 60 mm mortar rounds, 338 hand grenades, one 120 mm mortar round, 210 14.5 mm rounds, 40 107 mm rockets, 52 90 mm rounds and two RPG day sights. A concerned Iraqi citizen came to 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment headquarters in Tall Afar and turned in 25 82 mm mortar rounds, five RPG rockets and 50 .30 caliber rounds.
Another concerned citizen approached the unit in Rabiyah and turned in one RPG launcher and 21 RPG rockets.
