TACOMA - In two of the latest U.S. casualties in Iraq, a Stryker brigade soldier from Fort Lewis died and another was wounded when their Humvee struck a roadside bomb in Iraq, military officials said.
In another development, officials said Iraqis who found the body of a drowned U.S. helicopter pilot declined a $1,000 reward.
The bombing on Monday near Tall Afar, about 35 miles west of Mosul, caused the first death of a Stryker soldier from hostile action since the brigade, named for its new Army combat vehicles, arrived in Iraq nearly three months ago. Eight others have died in accidents.
