Body of helicopter pilot recovered

TACOMA, Wash. -- The body of a missing Army helicopter pilot has been recovered from the Tigris River in Mosul, The News Tribune of Tacoma reported.

The remains of 1st Lt. Adam G. Mooney, 28, of Cambridge, Md., were found Friday by Mosul residents who alerted officials in the Stryker brigade on deployment from Fort Lewis, near Tacoma, the newspaper reported.

The News Tribune has an embedded reporter with the brigade.

The report gave no further details, including whether those who found the body would receive rewards offered by the Army of up to $1,000 for information leading to recovery of his body and $500 for tips leading to recovery of his military gear.
