MOSUL, Iraq - Two soldiers were killed and five others injured Monday when a rocket-propelled grenade accidentally exploded at an ammunition dump near Sinjar, Stryker brigade officials said.
One of the dead was from the Fort Lewis-based brigade's 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment. The other was a soldier with an ordnance disposal detachment working with the squadron, officials said.
Two of the five injured were treated and returned to duty. The other three were reported in stable condition Monday night at an Army hospital at Mosul Airfield, officials said.
