MOSUL, Iraq - Visitors to the 101st Airborne Division headquarters in Mosul get treated to a rockin' video highlight reel of the storied unit's exploits in Iraq.
The Screaming Eagles fought their way to Mosul, and once here they used many more dollars than bullets to put the region back on its feet.
The 101st commander, Maj. Gen. David Petraeus, became one of the stars of Operation Iraqi Freedom, with his advanced degree in international relations from Princeton and ideas about building a civil democratic society in the wake of ousted dictator Saddam Hussein.
But Petraeus and the 101st are on their way home.
This week northern Iraq will become Brig. Gen. Carter Ham's show - his own "rendezvous with destiny," to borrow a line from 101st lore.
