We're all set to go with the bulletin board system (BBS) for the site. I just wanted to set out some guidelines and instructions before we open it up for business.

Additionally, if you plan on using this feature regularly and would like to help us moderate the forum, please send me an email.

Guidelines (Subject to Change)

One of the fears that Mike and I had about installing a BBS was that it would detract from the primary focus of the site, which is this main page. Based on your feedback, I think there is definitely room for both. We see the BBS as a natural extension to the comments section, where continued discussion can take on a life of its own. Having said that, we do want to make a couple requests.

  • Before you post anything, please be sure to read our Comments Policy.

  • If you post a link to a news story, photo gallery etc., please send us an email first. Since Mike and I will not always be monitoring the BBS, we do not want content to get lost that can be shared on this page. Content belongs here, discussion belongs on the BBS.

  • Please be sure to post a new topic in the appropriate forum. Right now we have two forums: "Stryker Brigade"; and "General Discussion". For example, if you want to find other people interested in a particular unit, that belongs in the Stryker Brigade forum. If you have a question about care packages or mail, that probably fits better in the General Discussion forum.

  • Keep it civil. We reserve the right to delete any comments that we find offensive w/o prior notice.

  • Dead wood will be pruned. If you post a discussion topic and no one responds to it, it will likely be removed after a week or so.

    • Special Features

  • Private Email - Once you register, you can send an email to another user w/o revealing either email address.

  • Private Messaging - Send a message to another user, which they can pick up next time they visit the BBS.

  • Visit the site and register. In an effort to keep the BBS as private as possible, we will be requiring all users to register - even to read the messages. The registration icon is in the upper-right hand corner of the page.

  • Post away!
