Archives Are Complete

Dec-29-2003 » Filed Under: Announcements

Just FYI - I successfully imported all of the "Stryker Brigade" entries from the other site. I still need to assign each entry to a category, but at least everythig is here for you to browse.

Doing a quick scan, I noticed that some entries do not have all of the comments included (the "Holiday Open Thread" had close to 100 comments, only 26 were imported). I'll take a look, but since they are all listed at my old site, I'm not going to kill myself trying to figure it out.

Whew, glad that worked.

UPDATE: Everything has been categorized.

Hey! Thank you so much for taking the time to put all this together. It really means a lot to us. I know you had to have put a lot of time into this-just know it is very much appreciated! Can you repost the website that breaks down the structure of the army so I can send it to my dad? Thanks!

Hi Strykerwife, Here is the link to the flameturnsblue page that you were wanting.

If you need any additional information, please let us know. Regards, Mike

Great site, I have a good friend with the Brigade abd this sure helps me keep up up to date as to what is happening.
P.S. Does anybody know what need over their, beside a ticket home

Bob - I was able to speak with my son Christmas day and he mentioned black socks, any kind of hot beverage they could add water to (hot cocoa, good coffee, tea, etc.) and letters, letters, letters. Todd posted a list on the old site. It has some duplications and is long, but worth a look. I gleaned some great ideas from it. I'm sure anything local would be greatly appreciated too. Hope this helps.

Just want to say Thank You for your Time and Effort that you all put into the Stryker Site. My Wife and I are very Proud of our Son who's with the 5/20 A Co. and with this site it brings us alittle closer to him, as I'am sure with the rest of the Stryker family. I have a question to ask - do the soldiers have to pay to mail their letters back home?

Thank you

Thanks and your welcome.

To answer your question - no, I don't think they have to pay postage. I believe the Army takes care of it for them.

Soldiers can mail letters for free. Anything bigger than standard letter size and packages have to be paid for.

Thanks Mike!

Bob-
I just got a letter from my husband and he sent a list of things:Black or white socks (didnt know they could wear white), underwear, trail mix, any type of candy, ramen noodles, razors (2-3 blades), shaving cream, pictures, letters, undershirts, and writeable cds. Some more expensive things included a metal bowl, titanium spork, and a stove/burner from REI. He was also asking for an MP3 player with memory sticks full of music. Pretty much anything that's going to remind them of home, keep them entertained, or comfortable.

My husband just asked for a stove too! I picked his up at GI Joe's. If you are thinking of sending one, they may not have access to propane so look for one that uses "dual fuel" or they may call it "universal fuel" that way they can use spare gas from the vehicles if need be. I had to ask at the store to make sure I picked the right kind of stove.
